Cryptocoryne cordata is native to South Thailand, West Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo. The varieties are very variable in leaf shape and leaf colour. This variety of cordata has narrower leaves than the more familiar heart-shaped variety. The underside of the leaf is slightly red and the upper leaf surface has an attractive streaked pattern. Softer water is preferable with mid to low-intensity lighting. After a certain period of acclimatisation, this Cryptocoryne can also be kept in harder water. Growing to a height of 20 cm, this variety is recommended for the middle area of the aquarium.
