The importance of golf to Nairn's development cannot be overemphasised, nor the high regard in which it is held as a centre of golfing excellence in terms of both courses and facilities. Nairnshire has a golfing infrastructure second to none.

Nairn is home to two top quality championship links golf courses - The Nairn Golf Club (Tel 01667 453208) and Nairn Dunbar Golf Club ( Tel 01667 452741). Both have hosted a number of national and international competitions. The clubs offer first-class facilities including well equipped professionals' shops, year-round catering and practise facilities. Both welcome visitors and stage a number of open competitions, including five-day Opens (men), one-day Opens (men and ladies) and open mixed foursomes.

On the outskirts of Nairn is Cawdor Castle Golf Course (est. 1976). Lying within the grounds of Cawdor Castle, the nine-hole golf course offers a variety of challenges that will test the seasoned player and the beginner.
